What We Did Before...

Before opening our new bookshop cafe in Ambleside, we were already embarked on a different kind of adventure: We were running a mobile bookshop in our van. While it didn't last overly long, it taught us many things (especially, to always dress warm!) and made us manage to put our foot in the book industry. As two booklovers who met and fell in love in a charity bookshop, we have been wanting to have our own little cosy brick-and-mortar shop with coffee, wine and lots of browsing. But our bookshop van was an exciting time too. Ultimately, we didn't manage to get enough market locations in the Lakes where we were allowed to trade at, which meant that the mobile shop aspect didn't quite work for us, but we loved meeting so many people at the weekly markets in Ambleside and Lancaster, at the Christmas markets in Rydal, Ambleside, Hawkshead, and Kendal, and at the university markets in Lancaster and Preston. And we loved getting all the input and feedback from customers.
